Ladakh Tourist Trade Alliance meets Lieutenant Governor
Ladakh Tourist Trade Alliance representatives met Lieutenant Governor, R K Mathur, and discussed the issues faced by the tourism industry of Ladakh on May 4.
A copy of memorandum highlighting various issues related to the tourism sector in the view of the COVID-19 pandemic was submitted.
The representatives highlighted the annual turnover of around ₹ 600 crores from the tourism sector in Ladakh contributing nearly 60% of Ladakh’s economy. They informed that with the spread of COVID-19, the tourism industry has been badly affected.
Ladakh Tourist Trade Alliance requested R K Mathur to support the tourism industry and the people of Ladakh.
The delegation requested a moratorium of 24 months and the loan interests for this period to be paid by the government. They requested to fast track the process to provide DIPP industrial subsidy for early disbursement of the finances, waiver of registration and other annual fees applicable to the hospitality industry for the current year and complete withdrawal of GST for a period of five years once the situation gets to normal in order to reinforce the much-affected tourism industry.
