LEH :
To discuss the celebration of ‘Ladakh Rpal-Ngams Tuston 2017’, Dr. Sonam Dawa, CEC convened a meeting on October 23 at Council Secretariat, Leh.
The festival was started last year with an aim to remember the extraordinary personalities who have made their exceptional contributions to the development and promotion of Ladakh.
Dr. Sonam Dawa said that one among the reason to celebrate Ladakh Rpal-Ngams Tuston was to sensitize our younger generations about our glorious past, history, culture, and heritage and make them a devoted Ladakhi’s with all these values.
He sought views and ideas from everyone to make the day more meaningful and urged everyone to participate in the celebration and pay tribute to them with a greater sense of pride.
On the basis of his great contributions in uplifting the society mainly in spreading the importance of education and keeping in mind 2017 as centenary year of Late Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche, CEC proposed to dedicate this year’s Rpal-Ngams Tuston on Bakula’s name which was unanimously favoured by all the participants.
Looking at past practice, CEC sought a proposal from the committee to nominate person on the basis of his unconditional welfare contributions towards the society and people to be awarded on the occasion of Rpal-Ngams Tuston.
To make the award more prestigious, many suggested for enhancing the award money besides giving the awardee a local protocol through Council to honor the person on all special occasions.
Tsering Sandup, EC Tourism, suggested publishing a book on the theme of Rpal-Ngams Tuston saying that it would further disseminate the significance of the event.
Ladakh Rpal - Ngams Tuston 2017 will be celebrated in November under the aegis of Hill Council, Leh highlighting the life and contributions of the legendary leader of Ladakh Gyalsras Bakula Rinpoche coupled by the public display of most valued personal belongings of the departed leader and cultural programs.
