Ladakh prepares counting officials for Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot system

The training session for the Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) pre-counting was held for Counting Supervisors and Counting Assistants at SSK Leh on May 31.

Led by DLMT Senior Lecturer Rigzen Namgyal, the session delved into the intricacies of counting postal ballot votes. He said that there is one counting supervisor, one counting assistant with a QR code reader and one ARO for up to 10 tables for ETPBS pre-counting, one counting agent for each candidate to watch the process of QR code reading and there shall be arrangement of separate trays for physical segregation of valid and invalid form 13B.

Additionally, he talked about the process of ETPBS pre-counting and sequences to be followed in scanning form 13-C, 13-A and 13-B, how to start the pre-counting process, process of scanning and valid marking of e-postal ballot, process of scanning and invalid marking of e-postal ballot and process of scanning and duplicate marking of e-postal ballot. 

Director (IT) NIC Ladakh, Punchok Paldan, conducted a comprehensive demonstration of the scanning process for Form 13-C, Form 13-A, and Form 13-B aimed to clear doubts and ensure a smoothly counting process.

Later, the Counting Supervisor and Counting Assistant received hands-on training on the ETPBS pre-counting process.

The training session was presided over by Chief Electoral Officer UT Ladakh, Yatindra M. Maralkar, District Election Officer Leh, Santosh Sukhadeve, Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Sonam Chosjor, Deputy District Election Officer A.G. Zargar, and Deputy Secretary Election Department and State EVM Nodal Officer, Swaran Singh.
