L-G Mathur reviews status of Jal Jeevan Mission implementation in Ladakh Targets to successfully implement the scheme by 15 August 2022
Lieutenant Governor, R K Mathur reviewed the progress of Jal Jeevan Mission implementation in both Leh and Kargil districts on September 14.
Secretary, PHE, Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Secretary; Rural Development, Saugat Biswas; Deputy Commissioner Leh, Shrikant Suse; Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Santosh Sukhdeve and senior officials of the PHE Department were present in the meeting.
Secretary Sahu presented data on the current status of Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) across various blocks and villages in Ladakh and shared the Performance Index of each Engineer of the Department. He also apprised Lt. Governor of the status of water testing labs for quality/composition analysis at both the source and delivery points.
Secretary Biswas apprised the Lt. Governor of the action plan drafted for grey-water management in the UT. He stated that soak-pits are being created for each household to ensure its effective management.
Further, both the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of Leh and Kargil shared their progress, issues faced in implementation, and action plans.
LG Mathur accorded top priority to Jal Jeevan Mission and stated that to achieve the target by 15 August 2022, work needs to be expedited and reviewed continuously. He urged both the DCs of Leh and Kargil to ensure an effective action plan for the successful implementation of the scheme. The DC's were directed to monitor the progress of work daily.
He appealed to every official and public representative involved to work with a serious sense of responsibility to ensure the implementation of the scheme within the fixed timeframe.
