L-G Mathur reviews Leh, Kargil Renewable Energy Development Authority
L-G Mathur reviewed the departments of Leh Renewable Energy Development Authority and Kargil Renewable Energy Development Authority at Raj Niwas on February 4.
The meeting was attended by Advisor Umang Narula; Secretary Ravinder Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Kargil, ADC Leh, and heads of concerned departments.
With the vision to achieve Carbon Neutrality in Ladakh, LG Mathur directed both the bodies to work for replacement of all DG sets with renewable energy sources within a set timeframe. He asserted that the replacement must cater to all requirements such as heating, cooking and not be limited to just lighting.
LG Mathur directed the departments to evaluate the capacities available energy sources - wind, hydro, geo-thermal etc and to submit an analysis of the required land for the establishment of new projects.
The meeting also deliberated upon completing installation of solar pumps for the purposes of drinking and irrigation as well as for space heating.
While addressing the departments’ issues, he urged them work towards bridging the gap between the present installed capacity and the output produced and directed to undertake projects with the sole purpose of benefiting the people.
