L-G Mathur reviews COVID-19 situation in Ladakh Stresses on intensifying RT-PCR tests and finalizing recruitment of nurses
Lieutenant Governor, R.K Mathur reviewed the COVID situation in Ladakh, plan of action, and developing a strategy for distribution of COVID vaccine on November 25.
The review meeting was convened after the Prime Minister's meeting with CMs and LG’s to review the status and preparedness of COVID-19 response and management. The government of India has invited suggestions from all states to ensure “smooth, systematic and sustained vaccination.
L-G Mathur directed the concerned department to roll out strategies at the earliest.
He stressed increasing the number of COVID beds, sufficient oxygen availability, strict adherence to SOPs, especially in Govt. offices and official functions, control on social gatherings, contact tracing, establishment and weekly review of containment zones, and most importantly, intensifying the rate of testing.
Reiterating PM Modi’s statement, Mathur directed the Deputy Commissioners of both the districts to intensify educating the public and implying stringent measures for SOP defaulters and also seek the help of civil society leaders, religious leaders, etc. in these efforts.
Appreciating the effort of the medical department in handling the COVID situation even though short on staff, LG Mathur instructed Divisional Commissioner/ Secretary, IT Department to finalize the recruitment of health workers at the earliest to ease the work load.
Commissioner Secretary, Health, Rigzin Samphel informed about the expected delivery and installation of an additional oxygen concentrator which will further supplement the oxygen supply.
Stating that all corners of Ladakh must be approachable during the winter months, LG Mathur directed the concerned department to conduct trial landing of helicopters as well as ensure adequate satellite phones in the remotest of villages.
