L-G Mathur meets Union Minister Jal Shakti Discusses Jal Jeevan Mission implementation in Ladakh
Lieutenant Governor, R K Mathur discussed the implementation of Jal Jivan Mission and other issues of PHE division in Ladakh with Minister of Jal Shakti, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on December 23.
R K Mathur apprised the Minister of the need for adequate funding and technical support for irrigation projects in Ladakh to utilize the full potential available under the Indus Water Treaty and for FMP projects. He requested for setting up of flood forecasting mechanism, the establishment of a Hydro-meteorological network, developing a suitable flood forecasting model, and a local office of CWC to expedite clearance of projects and to provide other technical support.
Regarding the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission, he informed about the engagement of WAPCOS to prepare DPRs and tendering procedures for the past six months. So far work under JJM has been done based on DPRs prepared by the department.
Mathur stressed the need to expedite the work to ensure timely and effective implementation of the projects under JJM in Ladakh.
Later, R K Mathur also chaired a meeting with the Chairman AAI, Arvind Singh, and discussed various issues concerning air services including the need for airstrips, heliports, and helipads. Discussion on disaster preparedness, emergency relief, and evacuations, etc was also carried out.
Commissioner Secretary, Rigzin Samphel was also present in the meeting.
