L-G discusses proposal for construction of media centre-cum-office complex of DIPR Leh
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) convened a meeting in New Delhi on February 24 and discussed the proposal for the construction of the media center-cum-office complex of Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Leh.
In the previous meeting held at the LG Secretariat in Leh, there was a detailed discussion on the proposed Media Center-cum-Office Complex of DIPR Leh to be constructed at the existing Assistant Director Information Office and the Auditorium Hall near Polo Ground. LG had suggested changes in the design and directed the concerned officials to increase the seating capacity.
Rohit from Rohit Mudaliar Architects gave a PPT presentation on the design elements incorporated in the building, including the use of local materials and vernacular architectural elements, etc. They informed that the site area spread over 2480.51 square metres would comprise the auditorium, office space, community facilities such as an art studio, photo exhibition, art gallery, library-cum-digital archive; café, parking area, etc. They also informed LG that the two-storey building is disabled-friendly.
LG highlighted the need for the maximum utilisation of space. He expressed hope that the auditorium would provide a platform for filmmakers and artists from Ladakh to showcase their work.
Commissioner/Secretary, Information & Public Relations, Padma Angmo, IIS; Secretary to LG, Shri Ravinder Kumar, IAS and other concerned officials from Central Public Works Department (CPWD) were present in the meeting.
