KVK Nyoma organises training program on vermicompost in Zanskar
Krishi Vigyan Kendre (KVK) Nyoma in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Zanskar organised a vermicompost training program at village Ubarak of Sub Division Zanskar on August 21.
Chief Guest of the occasion, Executive Councilor Tourism, RD and Zanskar Affairs, Er Punchok Tashi appraised the hard work of Program Coordinator KVK Nyoma Dr. Jigmath Yangchan for her selfless effort in making Ladakh a chemical-free zone by visiting different villages with a team of experts in the field of bio cultivation.
He also stressed the farmers to focus more on cash crops in the pattern of Lahaul Spiti HP so that farmers generate more income and help them to improve their livelihood. He further assured to provide all financial and logistic support through various government schemes to boost the organic cultivation in the sub-division.
Dr. Jigmath Yangchan stressed to the farmers to shift toward organic farming to make whole Ladakh free from chemical fertilizers and pesticides. She also talked about the value addition of organic farming.
Program Coordinator KVK Zanskar, Block Agriculture Officer, and Block Development Officer also spoke on the occasion.
Vermicompost expert Tsering Stobdan explained and practically demonstrated the making process of vermicompost to the farmers.
