Kargil’s mini bus operator union, bus union organises awareness program on road safety
As a part of the month-long road safety campaign, Mini Bus Operators Union and Bus Union organised a road safety awareness program at Bus Stand Kargil on February 1.
ARTO Kargil, Khadim Hussain; DYSP Traffic, Manzoor Ahmad; President of All Kargil Transport Association, Riyaz Ahmad, Taxi drivers, and others participated in the program.
Khadim Hussain emphasised the significance of a transport policy in Ladakh and threw light on the use of public transport and electric cars. He urged the participants to take advantage of subsidies for electric buses and highlighted the importance of road safety audits before constructing roads.
ARTO stressed the need for road education, enforcement, and the future implementation of e-challan. He informed about the establishment of a command control center in Kargil for transparent challans and fare services.
DYSP Traffic, Manzoor Ahmad spoke about the importance of good behavior of taxi drivers and emphasised safe driving practices, including the use of seat belts. He urged drivers to play their role in motivating tourists to contribute to the local economy collaborate with the administration to create a safer road environment and encourage safe driving practices.
A one-minute silence was observed to pay homage to those who lost their lives in recent road accidents.
