ISO standards awareness programme held in Kargil by Police and BIS
The District Police, in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Northern Region, Chandigarh, organised an awareness and facilitation program on ISO standards and quality assurance at the Syed Memorial Auditorium Hall in Kargil on October 10.
The event featured Vishnu Gupta, former DDG of BIS, and Sahil Samdhian, a Young Professional from BIS's Northern Regional Office, Chandigarh, as resource persons. Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Shree Ram R; Additional Superintendent of Police, Mujeeb ur Rehman, and representatives from various government departments were present at the session.
The resource persons provided a detailed overview of the Quality Management System (ISO 9001), explaining its significance and benefits. BIS, the National Standards Body of India, develops and publishes Indian standards, implements conformity assessment schemes, recognizes and operates laboratories for conformity assessments, enforces hallmarking, advocates for consumer empowerment, conducts capacity-building programs, and represents India in international bodies like ISO and IEC.
ISO 9001 is a globally recognized standard for quality management that helps organizations across all sectors enhance performance, meet customer expectations, and demonstrate a commitment to quality. It outlines requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving a quality management system (QMS).
By implementing ISO 9001, organizations ensure effective processes and well-trained staff, enabling the consistent delivery of high-quality products and services.
