Indian Swachhata League 2.0 concludes in Leh

LEH: The closing ceremony of Indian Swachhata League 2.0 was held at the Eco Park, Leh on September 17.
Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd) was present.
LG lauded the participants of the Waste to art and Painting competition and distributed the prizes among the winners and runner-ups.
He commended the local artists of the Ladakh Theatre Association for the impactful skit on cleanliness. He added that the people of Ladakh should adopt habits of cleanliness in their daily lives and asked the parents to teach their children about cleanliness from a young age. He stated that Ladakh is the hub for tourism and there should be a collective effort to ensure cleanliness at the tourist spots. He also spoke of the need to clean the water sources.
Deputy Chairman, LAHDC, Leh Tsering Angchok expressed gratitude to the Municipal Committee, Leh for the initiative of cleanliness drive under Indian Swachhata League in Leh. He said that the students and volunteers from different organisations participated in the cleanliness drive in various locations in the district. He informed that 27 segregation sheds were constructed in the rural areas of the district.
Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, Ladakh Sanjeev Khirwar presented a detailed overview of the various initiatives and activities of the department.
Advisor to LG, Dr Pawan Kotwal; Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Santosh Sukhdeve; President, Municipal Committee, Leh, Dr Ishay Namgyal and students of various schools & colleges participated in the closing ceremony.
