ICAR-CAZRI, Leh conducts training cum input distribution programme under tribal sub plan
The ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI), Regional Research Station, Leh, organized one-day Training cum Input Distribution Programme under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) to promote sustainable farming practices in Ladakh.
The program began with a welcome address by Stanzin Landol, who provided an overview of the training objectives. Dr. Maheshwar Singh (Head, CAZRI-Leh) delivered an insightful lecture on "Nursery Raising of Vegetable Crops," emphasizing techniques such as line sowing and pre-sowing seed treatment through soaking to enhance early germination.
In the subsequent technical session, Ankesh Kumar conducted training on "Pruning and Training in Apple and Apricot," explaining proper pruning methods to improve fruit yield and tree health. Additionally, Stanzin Landol led a practical session on "Preparation and Application of Waste Decomposer," highlighting its role in soil health improvement, compost decomposition, and increased crop productivity in Ladakh’s high-altitude conditions.
The event saw active participation from over 26 farmers from Rambirpur village. Concluding the program, essential farming inputs such as waste decomposer and black mulching polythene were distributed under the Tribal Sub Plan, supporting eco-friendly and cost-effective agricultural practices in the region.
