Hill Council Leh ensures seamless Muharram preparations

Chairman/CEC LAHDC Leh, Tashi Gyalson, chaired a preparatory meeting for Muharram in the council secretariat's conference hall on July 12 to ensure a seamless observance of Muharram 2024.

The meeting addressed all miscommunications raised by the community and ensured coordination among different departments for the hassle-free delivery of services. Acknowledging the emotional and spiritual significance of Muharram for the Sirat and Anjuman communities, the CEC emphasized the need for flawless coordination across all departments.

Directives were issued to prioritize uninterrupted electricity and water supply, as well as sanitation and toilet facilities at all designated locations, ensuring the comfort and convenience of participants throughout the observance.

"The well-being of participants remains our top priority," stated the CEC, highlighting strategic arrangements for medical services along procession routes. Medical teams and first aid stations will be strategically positioned to provide immediate assistance in case of emergencies, reaffirming LAHDC's commitment to safety and welfare. Furthermore, the Municipal Committee has been entrusted with maintaining impeccable sanitation standards before and after Ashura.

Representatives from religious organizations, including Anjuman Imamia Leh and the Sirat Committee, expressed satisfaction with the preparedness measures discussed. They appreciated the council's proactive stance in addressing community concerns and ensuring a hassle-free experience during this sacred period. The community expressed their gratitude to the CEC, DC, SP, and officials for their invaluable support during the recent emergency meeting.

In conclusion, the CEC instructed all departments to diligently fulfill community demands and requirements, aiming for a flawless execution of Muharram activities. A status report on preparations has been mandated to ensure accountability and readiness. Additionally, it was decided to conduct an on-spot inspection of the preparations tomorrow along with all departments.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Santosh Sukhadeve; Senior Superintendent of Police Shruti Arora; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Deputy Registrar Cooperative Department, Executive Engineers, R&B, Xen PDD, Xen PHE Leh, and representatives of the Municipal Committee, as well as representatives from various religious organizations, including Ashraf Ali Barcha, President Anjuman Imamia Leh; Mohd Nazir, Vice President Anjuman Moin-UL-Islam Leh; Nasrin Maryam, President Anjuman Imamia Women Wing; Azgar Ali, President Seerat Committee; and the President of Alamdar Health Society, Leh.
