Hill Council, Leh convenes introductory meeting with Directors and HODs
An introductory meeting with all the director-level senior officers of UT Ladakh and HODs of Leh district was convened by CEC, Hill Council, Leh Tashi Gyalson on November 4 at DC office, Conference Hall.
Deputy Chairman Tsering Angchuk; Executive Councillors, Tashi Namgyal, Stanzin Chosphel, and Ghulam Mehdi were also present.
CEC said, “Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh is a result of a hard-fought struggle of our leaders led by the “Gandhi” of Ladakh the 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche who struggled throughout his life for fulfilling the demand of Union Territory for Ladakh and in negotiation, Leh district got LAHDC, Leh in 1995. Council will never tolerate if anyone intentionally or unintentionally undermine this sacred institution.”
He said that the Council will give free hand to all the HODs in delivering their services and assured that there won’t be unnecessarily or unreasonable interference from the Council. Also, he hoped that in the coming five years Council and district administration will work as a team and achieved all its goals with a collaborative effort. He urged officers to step out of comfort zones in delivering public service whenever needed.
Later, he reviewed the preparedness of winter stocking from various departments. He sought details from various departments about their current position of stocking and their action plan for the winter months.
Tashi Gyalson enquired about the stocking of diesel for generator sets functional in Nubra, Tangtse, Nyoma, and other areas from SE PDD Tsewang Paljor. He directed him to ensure a smooth power supply during the winter months.
Project Director LREDA, Dr. Thinles was also asked to ensure timely stocking of Solar Power Plants spare parts to ensure smooth power supply through SPP in different remote villages of Leh district.
Director Health Services, UT Ladakh, Dr. Phunchok Angchuk, and CMO, Leh Dr. Motup briefed about the stocking position of medicines and preparedness of health department Leh in tackling COVID-19 pandemic in winter months. They informed that the medical department Leh is ready in all respect to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic in the coming months.
CMO, Leh informed that 100% stocking of medicines has already been done and the required supply of medicines has already been dispatched to medical centers in snowbound areas.
CEC directed SE PWD, Leh, Pardip Sharma, and Executive Engineer, Mechanical Division Leh to keep a dedicated team with JCB and other machines ready to clear link roads connecting remote villages with district headquarter Leh during snowfall keeping in the mind the surge of COVID-19 cases in rural areas these days also.
Assistant Director, FCS&CA department, Leh and Deputy Registrar Cooperative, Leh informed that 100 % stocking of rations and essential commodities has already been done with a 20% additional increase in a stocking as per last year. Executive Engineer, PHE Leh informed that there will be no diesel shortage for water tankers this year and assured smooth water supply during winter months.
DSHO, Leh, and Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Leh also informed about the stocking position of feed and feeder for animals.
Stocking of perishable items including fruits and vegetables in recently commissioned 1000 metric ton cold storage at Leh was also discussed.
