Ground breaking ceremony for Kargil-Dungal road widening held
CEC, Hill Council, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan virtually attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the widening of Kargil-Dungal Road at Akhchamal on October 1.
The widening of the road was virtually inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor Ladakh Radha Krishna Mathur. Nearly 50-kilometre road is being widened by the Project Vijayak of BRO.
Former CEC Kargil and sitting Councilor, Yurbaltak Constituency, Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan; Satyam Kumar Rathode, Officer Commanding, 55 RCC (GREF); Col Kaushik Mitra, Commander 762 BRTF and other officers of BRO were also present during the event.
CEC, Feroz Ahmad Khan thanked the Government of India and the Lieutenant Governor, Ladakh, R K Mathur for approving the widening of the road project. He said it will create unemployment opportunities for the local youth.
He said that the road is a very important one for the local population and particularly for defence.
“It could be a better alternative highway from Kargil to Leh. With the start of the road project, it will create employment opportunities for the local unemployed youth,” he added.
Feroz Khan informed that he has requested the concerned agencies to engage the local youth to create employment opportunities for them. He said that BRO has played an important role in road connectivity and in providing job opportunities for the unemployed youth through many projects.
Satyam Kumar Rathode, Officer Commanding, 55 RCC (GREF) informed that the work will be completed in the stipulated timeline with quality and excellence.
