EC Tsering Wangdus reviews power supply in Leh Directs NHPC and PDD to work in coordination to ensure uninterrupted power supply

A meeting concerning power scenario was held under the chairmanship of Tsering Wangdus, Executive Councillor Agriculture with the engineers of PDD and NHPC on June 26 at Council Secretariat, Leh.
Tsering Wangdus inquired in detail about the present position of the power supply by NHPC and PDD and their problems considering the frequent power cuts in the recent days.
He directed them to work in coordination to solve any technical issue to ensure uninterrupted power supply and to refute the rumor of lack of coordination between NHPC and PDD.
Gyal P Wangyal, EC Power said that necessary step is needed to curb the faults for uninterrupted power supply.
He said that in addition to technical faults, strong winds, the collision of heavy vehicles with electric poles are also among the reasons for power cuts. He appraised the effort of the employees of PDD in restoring the faults causing power cuts even in the odd hours and within a short period.
He further added that every possible effort for uninterrupted power supply is being made and also seek cooperation from the public.
Inquiring about the work on upgradation of Hunder hydel project station from 750KV to 1500 KV by Tsering Sandup, EC Tourism, he was informed that the work is in progress and is expected to be completed in a months’ time.
Ven. Lobzang Nyantak, Councillor Upper Leh, Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Superintending Engineer PDD Leh, engineers of PDD, and NHPC were also present.
