EC Tashi Namgyal Yakzee reviews border grazing facilities and interacts with nomads
Executive Councillor Tashi Namgyal Yakzee conducted an extensive tour of the border areas on December 24 to review winter grazing facilities and engage with herders from Dungti, Koyul, Nyoma, Mudh, Nidar, and Tsaga.
Accompanying him were Councillor Nyoma Ishey Spalzang, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Dr. Tsewang Murup, and officials from the Sheep Husbandry Department, Nyoma. The team visited the Kakjung area in Tumtsele to assess conditions on the ground.
EC Yakzee inquired about winter grazing practices, livestock management, and the overall well-being of the border communities. Villagers expressed satisfaction with recent developmental initiatives implemented by the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, the Union Territory Administration, and the Government of India under the leadership of the Prime Minister.
As part of the visit, EC Yakzee traveled to remote grazing sites in Lekha Nyonpo and Dookbuk, situated along the extreme border. There, he met with personnel from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and commended the harmonious relationship between the ITBP jawans and the civilian nomadic community.
In a gesture of support for the nomads, EC Yakzee distributed Hill Council-subsidized livestock feed at Kakjung, reaffirming LAHDC Leh's commitment to the welfare and livelihood of the region's nomadic population.
The visit underscores LAHDC Leh's ongoing efforts to ensure development, security, and prosperity for border communities while fostering strong bonds between civilians and security forces.
