EC Agriculture discuss setting up of ‘Co-operative Marketing Society’ in Leh
Executive Councillor for Agriculture, LAHDC Leh, Stanzin Chosphel discussed setting up an “Organic Co-operative Marketing Society” in Leh during a meeting held at Council Secretariat on February 16.
Highlighting the importance of Organic Product Marketing and finding solutions, EC Chosphel requested research institutes to suggest and brainstorm ideas for the formation of a new co-operative marketing society in Leh. District Officers along with representatives from Research Institutes and NGOs stressed exploring and strengthening local production of organic fruits and vegetables in the region by providing a good market for the products.
The meeting also discussed the formulation of a draft proposal with proper branding for the newly proposed Organic Co-operative Marketing Society within a week with a structured roadmap. He said that LAHDC Leh will follow up on the progress of the draft with higher authorities in the centre soon.
Chosphel directed concerned officials to formulate a consultative group along with a technical secretariat at GB Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment Leh. He also urged concerned officers and research institutes to work collaboratively on pilot projects on organic production to connect producers with a larger market.

Secretary Amchi Sabha Leh.
