Dr. Pawan Kotwal reviews rent rates for defence forces properties in Ladakh
Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Advisor/ Administrative Secretary of the Revenue Department, Ladakh, conducted a review of rental rates for properties occupied by the Defence Forces in the region. The meeting took place at the Civil Secretariat, Leh on June 21.
The discussions focused on addressing significant concerns related to the valuation and management of lands utilized by Defence Authorities, ensuring equitable and updated rental agreements. Key attention was given to a substantial tract of land measuring 488 Kanal 14 Marlas currently under Army occupation in Kaksar.
Efforts were made to streamline the rent revision process, incorporating up-to-date market assessments, particularly for lands within Municipal limits. Advisor Dr. Pawan Kotwal emphasized the importance of maintaining a balanced and fair approach in the valuation process, considering both strategic needs. He underscored the necessity for transparent and collaborative efforts between the Revenue Department and military authorities to establish mutually beneficial agreements. District Magistrates were directed to verify lands under Municipal limits.
The meeting was attended by the District Magistrate/CEO of LAHDC, Leh; Defence Estates Officer, Leh; Assistant Commissioner of Revenue, Leh; OSD to the Secretary of Revenue Department; and relevant officials. District Magistrate/CEO of LAHDC, Kargil; Additional Deputy Commissioner (In-charge of Assistant Commissioner of Revenue), Kargil; Tehsildar, Kargil, and concerned officers participated virtually.
