DM, Leh, briefs about steps taken by UT Admn; appeals for cooperation during lockdown
To break the chain and control the contamination of the coronavirus, District Administration Leh has taken various steps.
Sachin Kumar, District Magistrate Leh during a press briefing on March 31, said that certain crucial steps like imposing of section 144 of CrPC restricting assembly of individuals in the entire district before the countrywide lockdown; door to door delivery services via phone calls of essential commodities initiated for ease of the general public and to avoid their stepping out from homes; identification of 8500 migrant labourers and daily wagers in the district for free distribution of ration; close watch on every requirement in the containment areas of Chuchot Gongma and Chuchot Yokma; sanitisation and fumigation of various places have been initiated to contain the spread of coronavirus.
DM Sachin appeals to share information of persons who had a travel history to foreign country/s in last 30 days starting from February 25 and who might not have shared the information on their arrival due to any reason. They shall disclose their travel history on the numbers: 9906982312/ 9622116115 / 01982-257416. In the case of non-disclosure of information, the concerned person shall be liable for penal action.
To extend assistance to the specially-abled persons, District Administration Leh has appointedTashi Chorol, District Social Welfare Officer, Leh as the Nodal Officer for addressing any grievances related to persons with disabilities and old age residents of Leh district during the lockdown period. She can be contacted at numbers: 9596984033 / 9419216833. She will be working under the supervision of Moses Kunzang, Additional District Development Commissioner Leh.
"The general public is requested to follow the standard health procedures outlined by WHO and the Health Department and to strictly follow the lockdown procedures. In case of any health-related issues, people are requested to contact their nearby health centres or can call the hospitals for ambulance service for their visit to the hospital, if required", added Sachin Kumar.

Sub-divisions of Leh district is being taken care under the supervision of Sub-divisional Magistrates in delivering door to door service of essential commodities and free distribution of ration to the migrant labourers and other concerns.
DM Sachin extends appreciation to all the organisations, individuals, senior citizens for their volunteer services in different fields in this hour of need. He also expressed gratitude to the Police, Merchant Association, and his entire team of employees of the district for rendering their continuous services.
DM Sachin also appreciates the positive response received through the Administration online initiative to contact for volunteer services.
Sachin informed that a total of 87 volunteers in different fields have submitted and are ready to render their expertise and service. They will be contacted as per the requirements by the Administration.
District Magistrate Leh appeals the general public to extend their support to the Administration by following the lockdown to collectively fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
