District Legal Services Authority, Kargil organised an awareness programme on 'Public Utility Services and Central Government Welfare Schemes' at Sawab Public Secondary School Baroo, Kargil on September 26.

Advocate Nissar Hussain, Assistance Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Kargil highlighted the importance and significance of the event. He said that public utilities are concerned with the supply of essential products and services. In the absence of the services, the normal life of the individual will be disturbed. Public utilities are mainly meant for the supply of services to the consumer. These services should be provided at a reasonable rate. The service includes a supply of water to homes, supply of electricity, postal system, a Banking system Railways, etc.

He also highlighted some important central government schemes like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Ujala Yojana, National Ayush Mission, etc.
