District TB Control Society observes World TB day in Kargil
District TB Control Society Kargil observed World Tuberculosis Day theme, 'Yes! We can end TB!' in Kargil on March 24.
The day aims to inspire hope and encourage high-level leadership, increased investments, faster uptake of new WHO recommendations, adoption of innovations, accelerated action, and multi-sectoral collaboration to combat the TB epidemic.
Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan; ADC Kargil, and doctors/officials of the health department were present.
CEC said that 72 patients from district Kargil are under observation/treatment and they are provided nutritious foods from different volunteers and NGOs. He said every year World TB Day is celebrated by organizing various campaigns and health awareness programs to prevent and treat the deadly infection of tuberculosis.
CEC hoped to eliminate TB from the district by 2025. He also lauded the efforts of TB Control Society Kargil for playing an active role in disseminating information and identifying the patients.
An awareness rally was also organized from Old Hospital Kargil that marched through the main market of Kargil and culminated at the Old Hospital Kargil. Students and ASHA workers participated in the march and took a pledge to end TB.
