Director, Rural Development Department reviews status of various schemes
Director, Rural Development Department (RDD), UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain reviewed the overall performances of various schemes implemented by the RDD under State sector, Special Development Package, MGNREGA, 14th Finance Commission and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in both the districts on February 21.
Director RDD took a detailed block and panchayat-wise financial and physical progress of the developmental works being carried under different schemes. He exhorted that most of the central schemes such as MGNREGA, SBM are centrally monitored at the highest level and he shared that UT Ladakh has to improve its progress report compared to the national average.
He reiterated the need of uploading the progress on the respective portals and directed the Block Development Officers (BDOs) of both the districts to ensure that the progress is timely reflected on the portal with the requisite Geographic Information System (GIS) and Management Information System (MIS). He also instructed the BDOs and concerned officers to raise the issues and difficulties faced during the execution of schemes-related works in writing to resolve them.
Regarding the Grey Water Management component under SBM, Director RDD stressed that by July 1 each household should be provided with a Grey Water Management unit. He also directed the concerned officers to review the utility, functionality and operationalization of the Community Sanitary Complex (CSC) and submit its reports, as instructed by the Ministry of Rural Development.
Director RDD also instructed the BDOs and concerned officers to submit new plans under the State sector and SDP and to utilise the principal amount allocated under the 14th Finance Commission.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Development Commissioner, Leh; District Panchayat Officer, Leh/Kargil; Executive Engineers, Leh/Kargil; Block Development Officers, Leh/Kargil and other concerned officials.
