As part of its winter training schedule, the District Institute of Education & Training (DIET), Leh, organized a three-day workshop on Social, Emotional & Ethical (SEE) Learning for Heads of Institutions (HoIs) and faculty members. The workshop commenced on February 11 at the Indus Valley Hotel, Leh.

The workshop's primary objective is to foster compassionate leadership and promote a nurturing school environment in educational institutions across Leh-Ladakh.

The event was graced by Sonam Wangchuk, Chief Education Officer, Leh, as the chief guest.

Deldan Angmo, Principal of DIET Leh, warmly welcomed the SEE Learning facilitators—Tsering Wangdus, Senior Lecturer, and Tsering Angmo, Lecturer—both esteemed faculty members at DIET Leh. She highlighted the significance of SEE Learning in today’s rapidly evolving world and emphasized the need for social, emotional, and ethical education to cultivate a supportive and compassionate learning atmosphere in schools.

In his address, Sonam Wangchuk commended DIET Leh for its continuous efforts in conducting SEE Learning workshops, which benefitted over 1,200 teachers and school heads. He particularly praised the institution for organizing this specialized workshop for school leaders in the comfortable setting of the Indus Valley Hotel. He further informed the participants that the UT Ladakh administration has officially integrated SEE Learning into the regular curriculum and urged all HoIs to ensure its effective implementation from the upcoming academic session following the winter vacation.

The workshop witnessed active participation from 50 school heads and approximately 15 DIET faculty members. The facilitators initiated the session with an engaging activity, gathering participants' concerns under three key themes: social, emotional, and ethical. Throughout the workshop, they covered a range of crucial topics, including the SEE Learning curriculum and framework, exploring compassion, creating a compassionate classroom, and attention cultivation and self-awareness.

Interactive activities were conducted to develop various skills related to social, emotional, and ethical growth, ensuring a practical and immersive learning experience for all attendees.

The SEE Learning workshop aims to equip school leaders with essential skills and insights to implement a more compassionate and ethically aware educational framework, ensuring the holistic development of students across Leh-Ladakh.
