DDMA Kargil conducts collaborative disaster readiness exercise involving multiple departments
District Disaster Management Authority, Kargil in collaboration with the Indian Army, Health, Revenue, Mechanical, I&FC, PDD, MC, DIPR, UT-DRF, Fire & Emergency Services, and other departments, conducted a disaster preparation-cum-mini mock drill exercise at Bus Stand, Kargil on 7 February.
The exercise was designed to strengthen disaster readiness in the district and ensure effective coordination among different stakeholders in managing emergencies.
Lt. Col. Joshi underscored the critical importance of disaster preparedness, particularly given the town area's vulnerability. The army conducted a mock drill focused on landslides, while UT-DRF demonstrated CPR techniques. These efforts were undertaken to strengthen the community's resilience against potential disasters.
During the event, a representative from the Health Department in Kargil provided insights into First Aid, emphasizing its crucial role in disaster situations. The head of Fire Services in Kargil highlighted their responsibilities in emergency scenarios.
Key attendees included Tehsildar Kargil, Executive Engineers from I&FC and Mechanical departments, DPO Education, EO MC Kargil, doctors from the Medical Department, the head of Fire Services in Kargil, and the head of UT-DRF.
In concluding the exercise, Tehsildar Kargil, on behalf of DDMA Kargil, expressed gratitude to all the participating departments for their contributions to the successful event.
