DC, Leh, chairs District Level Review Committee meeting Advises banks to increase public awareness regarding schemes
Deputy Commissioner Leh/ Santosh Sukhadeve also the Chairman of the District Level Review Committee (DLRC) chaired the meeting of the DLRC and District Consultative Committee (DCC) of Leh district for the quarter end of June 2023 at the Conference Hall DC office Leh on August 28.
Lead Bank Manager, Tsering Angmo apprised DC Leh about the CD ratio and added that the total deposits as on June 2023 stood at ₹ 5470.70 crore as compared to ₹ 5421.52 crore as on March 2023. She further added that the total credit as on March 2023 stood at ₹ 2642.04 crore as compared to ₹ 2443.93 crore as on March 2023 showing a credit growth of 108.11 crore on Quarter on Quarter basis, the CD ratio for quarter June 2023 was increased by 3%.
The meeting deliberated on the bank-wise performances under different sectors such as Priority and Non-Priority categorized further into sub-sectors. Under the priority sector an amount of ₹ 150.78 crore and under the non-priority sector ₹ 114.62 crore were disbursed till the quarter-end of June 2023.
The performances of banks under various Government Sponsored Schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), Kisan Credit Card (KCC), MUDRA, Stand-Up India, PM SVANidhi, National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM), Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Enterprises (PMFME) and Social Security Schemes like Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) and Financial Literacy Initiatives were also discussed during the DLRC meeting. Also, Bank-wise performance on Social Security Schemes saturation was reviewed during the meeting.
DC further instructed all banks to adhere to a target set for each bank to cover under the Social Security Scheme to the existing customers or beneficiaries. Also, asked banks to create awareness among the people so that they can benefit from various schemes.
Deputy Commissioner, Leh Santosh Sukhadeve directed all the private banks to ensure a minimum ratio of 40%. Further, he instructed all banks to ensure special attention and provide the best of the facilities to villages included in the Vibrant Village Programme as it is being closely monitored by the PM’s office and UT administration.
Additionally, DC Leh directed all the line departments and banks to submit the action taken Report (ATR) and Social Security Scheme monthly data to the Lead District Manager at the earliest.
Briefing about 100 Days 100 Pays campaign to trace and settle the top 100 unclaimed deposits of every bank in every district within 100 days, LDO Head District Officer, Neha Kaul, directed all the banks to show the details of unclaimed accounts on its website with some identifiable details.
Lead District Manager, Leh spoke about the expanding and deepening of the digital ecosystem in Leh district and urged the banks to make concerted efforts for the same.
During the meeting, it was also informed that to strengthen the financial inclusion levels of the rural population, in line with the guidelines of RBI and supervision of the State Bank of India CRISIL Foundation has started 7 Centers for Financial Literacy (CFL) in Leh District for 7 base blocks and ten adjacent blocks.
