Christmas, Losar celebrations to be symbolic due to rise in COVID cases CEC, Leh appeals to people to keep the festival symbolic &avoid mass gatherings
The Chairman/CEC LAHDC, Adv. Tashi Gyalson reviewed the arrangements for the celebration of Losar and Christmas festivals in the district.
CEC expressed his concern about the raising COVID-19 cases in Leh. Ladakh Buddhist Association and Christian Association informed that they will avoid mass gatherings and also appeal to people to strictly follow the COVID-19 guidelines.
With the rising COVID 19 cases in the district, it was decided that Losar and Christmas would be celebrated symbolically by confining celebrations at homes and avoiding any mass gathering.
CEC appreciated the steps taken by the respective associations and further appealed to the people to avoid mass gatherings by confining celebrations at their homes during this festive season.
He further directed that the supply of essential commodities to the villages should be ensured by the respective departments. He also reviewed the current status of electricity and water supplies and directed the concerned officers to ensure unhindered services of essential supplies in the Leh district.
The concerned officers were asked to undertake necessary steps to prevent Covid 19 cases and enhance surveillance and tracking mechanism, especially due to the new Omicron variant.
