CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon met Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur on December 8 and discussed various issues of Kargil. 

He raised the issues of Aakashvani and Doordarshan Kendra Kargil with the Minister and requested intervention given the importance of the centers in the promotion and preservation of the culture of the region. 

He also requested the establishment of a sports academy in the district to promote and nurture sports enthusiasts, including young people, to train them to participate in national and international events. 

Further, he also took the matter strengthening of the sports infrastructure in the district including the winter-friendly sports arena keeping in view the climatic conditions of the area.

The Minister assured the CEC for consideration of the issues in the best possible interests of the district. A memorandum of demands was also submitted to the Union Minister.
