CEC Dr. Jaffer prioritizes education, announces strategic plans for district
CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon chaired a meeting with Director of School Education, UT Ladakh on June 7 to address the issues and discuss modalities for strengthening the educational framework in schools of Kargil district.
The meeting was attended by Executive Councillor for Education, Zakir Hussain, Executive Councillor for Information, Er Punchok Tashi, Director School Education, Ladakh Tsering Paldan, JKAS and Principals of Government Higher Secondary and High Schools.
The Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) reiterated that education remains the Council's top priority, emphasizing ongoing efforts to strengthen the educational framework in the district.
CEC sought suggestions from attendees on improving the educational system, particularly regarding the adoption of the CBSE pattern of education for students in the district. He directed the Education Department to focus on various initiatives aimed at bringing transformative changes to the district's educational landscape.
CEC Dr. Jaffer announced that residential coaching programs would resume in July, providing students with a learning environment conducive to their overall development and ensuring they receive quality education. He proposed implementing the CBSE curriculum from grades 5 to 8, with a heightened focus on English language proficiency and personality development.
Dr. Jaffer underscored the importance of aligning examination dates with national schedules to ensure consistency and fairness. The meeting also explored the potential expansion of Council Model Schools to enhance educational access and quality.
The CEC highlighted the necessity of robust professional development programs to equip teachers with the skills and knowledge required to deliver contemporary education, ensuring students are on par with their peers in other regions and capable of competing at the national level.
