Capacity-building program held for line department officers in Leh

Under the project ‘Space-Based Information Support for Decentralized Planning (SIS-DP)’ by ISRO, Department of Space, NRSC, Government of India organized capacity building program for line department officers along with training of manpower started on October 17.
The 2-day session was organized by the Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing in collaboration with User Departments of Leh district.
The training was being imparted to the officers of line departments involved in the execution of developmental purposes and geo-tagging of assets generated under various flagship schemes.
Gohar Naseem, Geo-Spatial Analyst explained that the project aims to make geo-spatial information available to the people at the grassroot level (Panchayat) involved in planning, implementation and monitoring of various developmental schemes like MGNREGA, PMGSY, IWMP, CAMPA, and others.
The training focused on enabling the trainees to use databases created under this project for planning and developmental purposes as per the requirement of individual departments. Also, the use of mobile phones in data capturing and e-governance were imparted.
