Army Wives Welfare Association meet held in Leh
On 57th Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Day, an AWWA meet was organised by Leh Sub Area under the aegis of Fire and Fury Corps at Rinchen Auditorium on August 23.
The event was graced by many Veer Naris and Army Widows belonging to the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The meeting was inaugurated by the Officiating Zonal President, AWWA, Fire and Fury Corps. On the occasion, special recorded messages from Archana Pande, President, AWWA and Sunita Dwivedi, Regional President, AWWA, Northern Command were screened. Meenakshi Rathore, Officiating Zonal President, AWWA, Fire and Fury Corps felicitated the Veer Naris, Army Widows and the winners of AWWA ‘Award for Excellence’ for their contributions towards improvement in the quality of life of soldiers and their families.
The meet was a huge success, attended by 174 Veer Naris & War Widows, wherein, various grievances of attendees were registered and resolved by various military and civil administration agencies. Awareness and Information Stalls were also established during the meeting providing first-hand information on various welfare schemes and facilities available through the Indian Army, Central Government and Administration of the Union Territory of Ladakh.
The event also highlighted the stellar role played by AWWA towards the welfare of the families of the Army personnel. The activities undertaken by the organisation to ameliorate the conditions of Veer Naris and widows have received rich accolades. The organisation has also played a vital role in the empowerment of the families of the Army fraternity.
