Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan attended the annual meeting of the Joinery and Furniture Association, Kargil on February 8 at the conference hall Baroo, Kargil.

General Manager DIC, Iftikhar Ahmad, President Joinery and Furniture Association Kargil, President Furniture Association, Leh, besides other officials were present.

CEC said the Joinery and Furniture Industry is playing a vital role in generating employment, boosting the economy, and has contributed a lot in making the infrastructure of the government buildings.

Khan assured to incorporate the genuine issues put forth by the association and suggested the President Furniture Association Leh take up the issue with Leh Hill Council as well.

The association also submitted a memorandum mentioning various issues such as land allotment for units, exposure tours, separate tender for wooden joinery works in govt. sector, brand promotion of units, special packages for sick and thrust units, subsidy in power and toll tax, etc. CEC assured to take up with the higher authorities and to include the same in Ladakh Industrial Policy.

Earlier, the President Joinery and Furniture Association Kargil informed various wooden carpentry works and their scope. Vice President, Imtiyaz Ali, also discussed various issues of the association.
