Administrative Secretary Vikram Singh Malik embarks on two-day official tour of Zanskar sub-division
Administrative Secretary Vikram Singh Malik conducted a two-day official visit to the Zanskar Sub-Division on August 9 and 10.
During his journey to Padum, a public delegation met with Secretary Malik, submitting a memorandum of demands for early resolution. Upon his arrival at the Tourist Reception Centre in Padum, the Secretary reviewed the status of Power Grid Stations and the installation of towers.
Secretary Malik later visited Sani Monastery and Shagar village to address concerns about grid towers placed on cultivated lands. The villagers of Shagar expressed their worries about the towers impacting their agricultural land and requested their relocation to non-cultivated areas.
In response, the Secretary instructed RECPDCL authorities to remove the towers from cultivated lands and to erect them at alternative sites identified by the villagers. Additionally, Secretary Malik visited Karsha Monastery to assess the feasibility of the proposed land for Juniper Park.
Following this, the Secretary chaired a meeting with Sub-Division officers to finalize the venue and date for the Zanskar Festival, anticipated to be held in September.
On August 11, Secretary Malik visited Sani Naro Photang and the nearby lake. He also convened a meeting with RECPDCL and contractors from various companies, directing them to install power grid towers along the Drass to Padum route. He reviewed the progress of tower installations and emphasized the importance of completing the work within this working season.
During his tour, Secretary Malik also inspected the Hydro Power Project at Raru Lungnak, which is operational and supplying power to Padum town and surrounding areas.
The Secretary and his team continued their journey toward Serchu via Singkula. Accompanying Secretary Malik on this tour were the Chief Engineer of PDD, UT Ladakh; Deputy Secretary of LAACL, Kargil; Project Director of KREDA, and Executive Engineer of PDD.
