6th District Level NCORD Committee meeting held
Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Suse also the Chairman of the District Level Committee (DLC) under Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD), Leh chaired the 6th NCORD Committee meeting with the concerned members on May 16.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, P D Nitya apprised about the recent arrests of culprits under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and their modus operandi.
DC, Leh, stressed intensified crackdowns on the drug peddlers along with intensive awareness/sensitization camps and inspection drives conducted in a coordinated manner between the concerned departments such as Police, Medical, Education, Social Welfare, etc. He instructed the officers to submit the list of shopkeepers who repeatedly violate the COPTA rules and exhorted that the District Administration would initiate strict legal actions against the violators.
He directed the concerned officers to plan a sensitization programme about drug addiction with the participation of all the concerned stakeholders, including school principals, students, Yato Club members, the tourism sector, and others.
Also, DC Leh stressed closed coordination with the Narcotics Control Bureau, Jammu by district police Leh for the elimination of interstate supply chains.
The meeting also deliberated on scheduling awareness camps in labor-concentrated areas/camps in association with the Labour Department, BRO, and the NCORD Committee.
