14th National Voters' Day 2024 celebrated across Kargil district Election Commission of India’s song in Purgi language released
The 14th National Voters' Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at SMM Auditorium Hall, Kargil on January 25.
District Election Officer/Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse was the chief guest. The Election Commission of India’s song in the Purgi language was also launched. The song was translated by Purgi language expert Mohd Issa Sabiri, sung by Mindok Tsar Dramatic Club, and produced by Ladakh Planet Production House.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the celebration of National Voters' Day is aimed at promoting a free and fair election process without being influenced by social, race, economic, and religious status. He further emphasised the full-proof formation of the voter list.
He said the ECI has taken all the possible measures to upgrade the EVM to ensure transparency and a free and fair election process.
Master Mohammad Ali gave a brief training and awareness about the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) clearing the doubts raised about the manipulation of the EVM.
Cash prizes and mementos were distributed among the winners of the quiz competition conducted by SVEEP Kargil, Ladakh.
In Zanskar, the National Voters Day celebration was held at Tourist Dak Bungalow Padum where Area Development Officer/SDM Zanskar, Romil Singh Donk was chief guest..
Quiz competition among Government Model Degree College, Govt. Higher Secondary School Phey, Govt. High School Karsha, Govt. High School Zangla and Govt. High School Tungri. Govt. High School Tungri won the 1st position, Govt. Model Degree College Zanskar won 2nd position and Govt. Higher Secondary School Phey won the 3rd position.
Appreciation certificates were also presented to the booth level officer for their outstanding performance.
National Voter’s Day was also celebrated in Drass Sub Division where SDM Drass Vishal Atri addressed the general public at Tehsil Office and SDM Office. Later, the SDM interacted with students of HSS Drass and informed them about the importance of the right to vote. He also ensured that every individual above 18 years if not enrolled in the electoral roll. The event concluded with an oath-taking ceremony.
