14 Government employees suspended for being absent from duty

In the sternest action taken against its employees, the Deputy Commissioner, Leh Prasanna Ramaswamy G suspended 14 officials of the various departments who were found unofficially absent from their duties on 4 February.
During the inspection DC found 14 officials absent from their duties without seeking prior permission from any authority.
A checking squad under the direction of DC, Leh, conducted a surprise checking of various offices on 4th February after several complaints were received of unauthorized absence of Government servants from their offices.
It was found that large numbers of officials were absent from their duties and further 65 officials were on unauthorized leave/ official duty.
The DC, Leh ordered an enquiry against the suspended officials. Dr. Zahida Bano Chief Executive Officer, LDA, Leh and Tsering Angchuk, Chief Planning Officer Leh was appointed as enquiry officer.
Dr. Zahida LDA Leh will conduct an enquiry into the conduct of the officials belonging to ARTO, Leh, Medical/Health Department DSE, Xen R&B Leh, Construction Div. Leh, PHE Div. Leh. While Chief Planning Officer, Leh T. Angchuk will conduct an enquiry of officials belonging to DTO Leh, Fund Office Leh, DS&EO Leh, Soil Conservation Office Leh, Horticulture, ICDS, Leh CA & PD and I& FC, Leh.
He directed the officers to complete the enquiry within 15 days. He also said that the enquiry officers shall give the suspended officials a fair chance of being heard and list out the charges levelled against them after deciding the same.
Meanwhile, the suspended officials shall remain attached to the offices of their respective enquiry officers who shall maintain the daily register of their attendance till the enquiry is complete.
The release of the salary of the suspended officials for the duration of the suspension shall be contingent upon the production of their attendance certificate by the respective enquiry officers.
