Inter-school debate competition held at Lamdon
An inter-school debate competition was held at Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh on 22nd June at the multipurpose Hall. With the topic chosen for the debate being ‘children access to technology should be controlled’ 8 speakers from 4 schools of the district vied for honours.
Some say giving kids more access to computers gives them an opportunity of a head start in learning how to use them, giving them an edge in succeeding in an ever more computerized world. Others say computers are depriving kids of natural play, exercise and in some cases even interfering with brain development.
At the end of the heated but interesting debate which lasted over two hours, Mahabodhi School, Choglamsar walked away with the first position in School category.
The second place went to the Lamdon Model Senior Secondary School, Leh while the third spot was bagged by the Tibetan Children School, Choglamsar. And the fourth bagged by Moravian Mission School.
In the Individual category, Gawa Khasdon Katpa from Lamdon School was adjudged the best speaker.
The second prize went to Stanzin Angmo from the Mahabodhi. Sonam Yangzes from the Mahabodhi School was chosen as the third best.
