IAF airlifts 264 stranded civilians from Jammu

Coming to the rescue of stranded passengers in Jammu, the Indian Air Force on March 4 airlifted 264 stranded passengers from the winter capital to Leh. 

IAF launched a special sortie to airlift 264 stranded passengers, from Jammu to Leh, an IAF spokesman said. 
 
The IL-76 transport aircraft of the IAF was pressed into service, to ferry the stranded civilians, mostly hailing from Leh and Kargil Districts of the Ladakh region of J&K. 

A total of 264 passengers, which included 40 ladies and children, were airlifted on March 4th  by the special IAF sortie, he said.
