Yarana Premier League T20 cricket tournament starts in Kargil

Yarana Premier League T20 Cricket Tournament starts from June 23 at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium, Bemathang. While inaugurating the tournament, Feroz Ahmed Khan, CEC Kargil said that Hill Council, Kargil is committed to boost and promote sports and talented players in the district at the State and National level.

He said that through the Department of Youth Service and Sports, talented youngsters in schools and colleges will be given an appropriate opportunity to prove their calibre in different sports.

He expressed optimism that it will go a long way in channelizing the energies of the youth in a positive and fruitful direction. Also, he applauded the charity activities being undertaken by the organisers for orphans and needy people in the district.

He further added that sports have a lot of significance for physical and mental wellbeing.  He urged the players to exude positivity, discipline and team spirit during the matches which would further help them to develop as a good human being.

A charity match was played between Kargil XI and Kashmir XI, the proceeds of which were donated to the Ladakh Yateem Trust Lankarchay.

Phuntsog Tashi, Executive Councillor for Tourism and Zanskar Affairs said that the cricket tournament will help players to develop a sense of oneness and openness besides helping them to be physically and mentally strong in dealing with difficult situations.
