LIKTSEY :
A two-day block level Inter youth club archery tournament was organized by Chetsog Phanday Tsogspa Liktsey in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Leh, at Liktsey on November 15 and 16.

A total of eight teams participated in the tournament. The final match was played between Phulak and Liktsey team on November 16, in which Phulak team bagged the winner cup.
Ex Sarpanch Nawang Dugay was the chief guest and Nambardar Liktsey Jigmat Angchok was the guest of honour.

On the second day of the archery tournament, the villagers gathered at Liktsey monastery and celebrated the birth anniversary of His Eminence Khamtak Rinpoche Jigmat Nawang Namgyal and prayed for his long and healthy life.

Nawang Dugay, Ex Sarpanch appreciated the organizers and said “Archery is one of the age-old traditions of Ladakh. Youth should take this tradition from the elders and work towards its preservation. It is a very good thing that the people gave up the habit of serving Chang or the local barley wine during such event; this initiative should be kept in future to build a healthy society.”

Nawang Namgyal was titled the highest scorer and Tundup Angchuk hits the target maximum.
