Modern Archery under 17 and under 19 competition concluded at Leh

The closing ceremony of coaching camp cum competition of modern archery organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports LAHDC Leh concluded on 24 May at Indoor stadium. The ceremony was chaired by EC Health Dr. Sonam Wangchuk. Kunzes Dolma District Education Planning Officer Leh was also present.

The competition was categorized into under 17 boys/girls and under 19 boys/girls.  88 Archers from 22 Higher Secondary Schools and High Schools of Leh participated.
Abdul Rashid in the welcome speech announced that the best archers would get the chance to represent in the State Level Archery competition that is going to be held this summer either in Leh or in Kargil and also in the National School Games in summers.

EC Health Dr. Sonam Wangchuk appreciated the students for taking interest in archery as it is one of the games that our ancestors used to play in those days during spring and autumn as it was considered a good omen. He said, “In today’s time actively participating in games as important as studies. Games and sports not only keep us healthy but also teach us to work as a team”. He further added that the LAHDC has already sanctioned money and construction is going on for building of an indoor stadium and ice hockey rink that would further help in booming of games and sports in Ladakh.

At the end a colorful programme by the student added spark to the moment and chief guest distributed prizes among the best archers
