Ladakh Scouts Red clinches Pagir archery winner cup Stereotype thinking towards women participation in archery should change, says Pagir President Mohd

With the aim of treating every individual equally in the society,  an archery tournament was organized by Pagir- People’s action group for Inclusion and Right on November 11 at Indus hotel, Choglamsar.

A total of 24 teams participated in the tournament. Ladakh Scout Red wins the Pagir 2016 archery cup.

Appreciating the great initiative of Pagir towards the preservation of archery tradition, PT Kunzang, LBA Vice president said that such initiative by some association made this tradition revived in our society which was in a declining stage in our society.

Archery, marathon, and ice hockey are three important sports which are loved by all people of Ladakh and many have represented it in national and international level. 

“Although our youth has been taking part in national and international level, we should help each other to build platform for the younger generation through organizing such tournament and competition at grassroots level”, he added

Mohd Iqbal, President Pagir said, “Pagir aims and work for equal treatment and participation of specially-abled people in everything and works collaboratively towards culture, tradition, and environment protection. The archery association has always helped and guided us to participate in every archery competition from last year, it is grateful for us to promote our talent equally.”

To erase the stereotype thinking towards women, we also included women team in the tournament and in future more women will be participating which will help to end all the barriers of discrimination in our society, he added.

Rinchen Lhamo, nominated councilor for women donated a sum of ₹1 lakh and Mohd Nisar, nominated councilor donated ₹ 50,000 to the Pagir.

Tsering Sangay, York Shine was titled as highest target hitter. Whereas the individual scorers are:
