J&K Red Lifted the 2014 National Junior Ice Hockey Championship

J&K Red lifted the National Junior Ice Hockey Cup 2014 at Ice Hockey Rink Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium Biamathang Kargil on 03 February. The finale of the Championship was played between J&K Red and Ladakh Winter Sports Club and with the help of two magnificent goals by Stanzin Namgyail J&K red won the match by one goal.
The Tournament was organized by Ice Hockey Association of India in collaboration with Kargil Ice and Snow Sports Association (KISS) Kargil in which teams of Haryana, J&K Blue, Kargil, Ex-Service Man Club, etc participated.

The Commander 121 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Majindar Singh was the Chief Guest and Deputy Commissioner Kargil Kacho Hassan Khan was the Guest of Honour and General Secretary Ice Hockey Association of India Hajinder Singh, Director AIR Kargil Nissar Naseem, SSP Kargil Sujit Kumar and other district officers and thousands of spectators also witnessed the match.

The Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the Ice Hockey Association of India for providing avenues and platform to the youths of this Border District to show their talents and in this connection he assured all possible help.

In the coming years, Brigadier Majinder, expected new talents of national and international calibre from Kargil, as Kargil has all facilities required for Ice Hockey and such events of National level as expected will boost this game amongst the youths of Kargil.

Earlier talking on this occasion the Deputy Commissioner Kargil Kacho Hassan Khan thanked the Ice Hockey Association of India for organizing such National Level Event in Kargil and boosting and encouraging the youths towards this game.

Presenting the vote of thanks the General Secretary Ice Hockey Association of India Harjinder Singh assured the people and guests that next year the third National Junior Ice Hockey Championship will be played in Kargil again and for this he credited the efforts of the General Secretary Kargil Ice and Snow Sports Association (KISS) Aman Ali Khan and hoped for better participation from the local youths in the game next year.

He informed the players that from 9th February 2014 International Ice Hockey Association is organizing a Junior Asian Development Camp at Leh particularly for the youths of India and all those players who participated in this tournament has to attend the camp as international coaches will be imparting training. Aman Ali Khan presented the welcome speech and highlighted the achievements of KISS for the upliftment of Ice Skating in Kargil.
