High Altitude Football Tournament held in Chushul

To boost sports in the border region, 47th Battalion ITBP under the aegis of Khelo India Programme, Ministry of Sports, Govt. of India organised a 4-day High Altitude Football Tournament from March 26 to 29 in Chushul, Changthang.

Teams from Chushul, Tsaga, Durbuk, Lukung, Khargyam and Merak village participated.
The tournament organized by 47th Battalion under the leadership of Parwinder Singh, Commandant, 47th Battalion, ITBP.

J. P. Yadav, SHQ (Ladakh), who was the chief guest on a concluding day said, “The high altitude football tournament is an initiative to promote football and also creating fervour for sports in general. We stand committed to our endeavour to enhance bonhomie among the forces and locals and to motivate a vibrant and sports-loving youth in the border region of Ladakh.”

He assured the locals for the continuous efforts to develop the region.

Football kit, tracksuits, and certificates were distributed among all the teams. 

Individual performers were awarded a cash prize and trophies including ₹25,000 to the winners, ₹20,000 to the 1st runner-up and ₹15,000 and  ₹10,000 to the second and third runner-up respectively. ₹10, 000 each were presented to the best player, Goal Keeper and highest scorer.
