Workshop on Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme held in Leh

A one day workshop on Prime Minister Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) implemented by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi was organised on April 17 at Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Leh.

Dr. M K Kejriwal, Joint Secretary Ministry for Human Resource and Development, chief guest said, “The main aim of this scheme is to enhance employment opportunities among youths of Jammu & Kashmir and to formulate job plan involving public and private sectors”. 

“Every year scholarships are given to J&K students to pursue undergraduate studies outside Jammu and Kashmir for improving their skills by providing access to education. The teachers are given the workshop so that they can understand and guide their students in understanding this scheme and help in filling the online form."

He appealed the students to select quality institutions and requested the teachers to act as their ambassadors and help spread this information among all the students.
 
Dr. M S Manna, Director PMSSS gave a detailed power-point presentation about the schemes and detailed account of online registration, verification, the selection of colleges and allotment of the admit certificates. 

The schemes can be availed by the 12th standard studying in the state and the passed student interested in studying outside the state.

The main documents required during the admission are the J&K state domicile, family income certificate, reservation/ physically disabled certificate (if any), Aadhaar card, and 12th admit card (current year) or 12th pass detailed marks sheet (previous year), correct email address and mobile number.

Professor Ajit Angral, Nodal Officer, PMSSS J&K gave the introduction about the scheme and requested the teachers to take the responsibility of helping the students in shaping their future.
