Two-day conference on Geopolitics of Himalayan Region held in Leh

A two-day conference on ‘Geopolitics of Himalayan Region’ organised jointly by India foundation, Jammu Kashmir Study Centre, Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (JKSCNMM), New Delhi supported by Ladakh International Centre was held on May 16 in Leh.

The day began by reminiscing Kushok Bakula Rinpoche and his exemplary contribution to India’s Soft Power Diplomacy. 

Anil Trigunayat, Ambassador who was the deputy head of the mission under Bakula Rinpoche in Mongolia shared his personal experiences and valuable insights of the Saint Ambassador and the manner in which he effortlessly blended spirituality and statesmanship. 

P. Stobdan presented in-depth macro analysis and bird’s eye view of the Himalayan region and its geostrategic importance. 

Presentations and discussions on Tibet and Xinjiang were carried out by Prof. Avanti Bhattacharya of Delhi University and Prof. Mahesh Ranjan Debata of Jawaharlal Nehru University. 

The sessions were chaired by Prof. S.D. Muni, Professor Emeritus, JNU, Prof. Sunaina Singh, Vice Chancellor, Nalanda University and Prabha Rao (IPS). 
 
Valuable inputs from luminaries like Amb. Ranjit Rae, Prof. Warikoo, Brig. Anil Gupta, and Capt. Alok Bansal enriched the proceedings.
