Thief arrested, stolen mobile phones and accessories recovered

A man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a shop and stealing mobile phones and accessories valued at ₹ 80,000 on an intervening night of April 8/9 in Choglamsar.

The accused has been identified as Omar Farooq resident of Channapora, Budgam district is a trunk maker in Choglamsar.

The case was registered under FIR no. 30/2018 U/S 457, 380 RPC in Police station, Leh. Nawang Namgail owner of S.D. Communication, Choglamsar Zampa filed the report that during the intervening night of April 8/9 some unknown persons have broken into his shop and stolen mobile phones and accessories.

A team led by Mohd Ali, ASI, Police Post Choglamsar made the arrest within six hours. And the accused confessed his involvement in committing the offence. 
 

Section 380: Theft in dwelling house, etc

Whoever commits theft in any building, tent or vessel, which building, tent or vessel is used as a human dwelling, or used for the custody of property, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine.

Section 457: Lurking house-trespass or housebreaking by night in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment

 Whoever commits lurking house-trespass by night, or housebreaking by night, in order to the committing of any offence punishable with imprisonment, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to five years, and shall also be liable to fine, and, if the offence intended to be committed is theft, the term of the imprisonment may be extended to fourteen years.
