The award was given in recognition of the efforts towards excellence in promoting cleanliness, hygiene and infection control in the District Hospital and contributing improve quality of care.

According to Medical Superintendent Phuntsog Angchok, “the award is an effort to create competition among people/hospital about keeping it neat and clean. This year it was awarded to district hospitals, however; from next year, the award will open on the basis of sub-district level as well”.

“Basically hospital is a service provider, next we will work harder on providing better service to public. Since the hospital is the public place, unless and until there won’t be cooperation and coordination of public it is hard to keep the hospital clean.”

He further added that spreading of infection could be only controlled by cleanliness. So this award is not just about the cleanliness and quality care improvement, at the same time responsibilities of team and expectation of public will also rise.
