SAVE, Nyoma, organises Losar reception in Leh

On the auspicious day of Galdan Namchot, a student association of Changthang region, Nyoma block ‘Student Association for Village Education (SAVE) organised a Losar reception for all the people of Changthang, supporters, and well-wishers on December 2 at Shenam Community Hall.

Tsewang Thinles, President, LBA was the chief guest of the occasion and Dorjay Motup, Former CEC was the guest of honour.

Giving a traditional and cultural importance, the day was celebrated with scrumptious traditional cuisine, folk songs, and dance. A booklet of Ladakhi folk song published by ‘SARZHENGS’ the media wing of SAVE, was launched on the day and was distributed among all the guest and participants as a gift for the New Year.

Tsewang Thinles, President LBA appreciated the SAVE’s effort and initiative to preserve and promote the rich culture and tradition of Ladakh. He said such initiative and concern is very important in today’s changing time. He said that keeping intact the rich culture and tradition along with the development is a must.

He stressed upon the youths to understand the value and importance.

He further announced ₹1 Lakh to the association to help them in organising various activities in future as well. 

Dorjay Motup said that the SAVE has created a common platform to all the students of Changthang region on the road to development. 

Highlighting the importance of Losar celebration, Mipham Otsal, Director, Ladakh Theatre Organisation said that a New Year is more of a celebration if we plan and strive to make the year very productive and fruitful.

He appreciated the SAVE concern to preserve and promote the culture and heritage and also stressed upon moral principles and values.

Tashi Gyalson, President Save briefed about the association and various activities. He informed about the plan of 40 days Intensive Learning Winter Camp for the students of Changthang region in Nyoma from December 25.

Ice Hockey coaching, music class, art, and craft workshop to convert waste into the craft, theatre workshop, Ladakhi history, English communication skill, screening of famous inspiring documentaries followed with discussion, essay and painting competition, and cultural workshop will also be provided to the students.

Gurmet Dorjey, Councilor, Korzok, Thupstan Angchuk, Councilor, Nyoma, Konchok Stanzin, Councilor, Chushul, Rinchen Wacher, President, Young Drukpa Association Dr. Sonam Angchuk, President IALS/Founder Director Himalayan Culture and Heritage Foundation,  Rinchen Lamo nominated Councillor and many other dignitaries and guest were present.
